Austin Family Farms The Austin Farm in Paonia is one of my favorite stops. The family run business, headed up by Glenn and Tony Austin, their daughter and son-in-law Tina and Don and their children is a 3 generation operation. The whole family chips in and boy, are they busy. The Austinıs have 20 acres of fertile land, 10 of which are planted in orchards. For 36 years the Austinıs have been producing beautiful food. The farm has been using organic practices for years and this year they are taking it up a notch to convert to bio-dynamic farming, providing even a more nutritional end result. The farm grows raspberries, blackberries, 9 kinds of peaches, 12 kinds of apples, plums, nectarines, apricots, pears and miscellaneous vegetables. The Austinıs invite you to tour their farm anytime. |

Desert Weyr At Desert Weyr our small family farm produces animal products in a humane and environmentally friendly way. We take advantage of our animal's ability to transform inedible plants and insects into healthy meat and wool without destroying the environment. Our Black Welsh Mountain sheep produce high quality lamb and mutton without the use of grain feeds to finish. Our Pilgrim geese are also pasture raised with some grain for optimum health. Our meat products are very lean and yet remain tender and tasty. We do not feed antibiotics or growth hormones to any of our livestock. We do provide humane care including vaccinations and deworming as needed. |

Haystack Mountain Our goat farm and original creamery are located on seven acres on the rich agricultural plain that skirts the foothills of the Rocky Mountains 15 minutes northeast of Boulder and west of Niwot, Colorado. We are a "farmstead" dairy comprised of dedicated people and a healthy herd of primarily Nubian and Saanen Goats. The exotic looking Nubian goats may be any color. They have Roman noses and long floppy ears and are known for producing milk high in protein and butterfat. The Saanen Goats are an old Swiss breed that produce high volume, high quality milk. The mix of milk from these goats produces delicious cheeses. The goat farm is full of life no matter what time of year one visits. Each season brings unique experiences. Although the cycle is repeated every year with the same activities, each day and each season is fresh and new. |

The Living Springs Farm The "Living Springs Farm" owned by the Sikora Family is one of our Certified Organic Farms. The family of six have been on the farm for 12 years now. The Sikoras were city slickers once upon a time until the farm life called to them as a place to raise their children. As Carol Sikora quotes, "Nature teaches kids the most wonderful things." Carol and her husband wanted their children to grow up knowing the practical things of life that living on a working farm teaches one. In the beginning money made from produce sales went to the childrenıs tutors. Now the farm provides a living for the whole family. Their produce is well known for its quality and flavor and we are proud to have them on board. |

Rain Crow Farm Kerry Noonan and Jason Beason Our farm is named after the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, also known as the Rain Crow. The Rain Crow brings good luck and often sings just before a rain storm. Last summer we saw a Rain Crow along the river that borders our farm. This will be our first year farming on our land. Last year we had a big garden and everything we grew was delicious and bountiful. This summer we hope to expand what we grow to sell at a farmerıs market and to the chefs in the area. Kerry has worked on farms in Montana, California, and Connecticut and is eager to have her own business. She will be out in the field with her one year old son, Otus, and her husband, Jason. We will be growing a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. |
