![]() About Fresh & WyldWe are a dedicated group of farmers, fruit growers, ranchers and distributors who are committed to growing the very best sustainable and organically grown food possible for you and your families. We do not use any chemicals, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics or gmo seed. We are 10-15 different growers in the North Fork Valley currently and most of our farms and gardens are between Paonia and Hotchkiss, Colorado. Many of us are too small or are too far down on the waiting list to participate in Farmers Markets to sell our food and we are too small to market ourselves to larger stores or restaurants. This scheme helps us immensely. Last year more than 20 families benefited from your patronage. Every year we hope to have a few more farms to represent. We choose only the best produce for you and try to keep the prices fair to our farmers and customers alike. Your business is very important to us and we will try our hardest to keep it. We realize you can make other choices than us and we are certain we can keep our quality up, our prices fair and painlessly deliver it to your house free of any worry or stress on your part. We sincerely thank you. Eat well, live well!
About Chef DavaFresh & Wyld was created in 2002 through the efforts of Roaring Fork Valley Chef Dava Parr. Eager to buy a healthy meal on the odd night out, Miss Parr exhausted all her efforts looking for a local dive that could offer up at least a farm fresh egg or some organically grown salad greens for Miss ParrŐs healthy discerning tastes. After many disappointing, over-priced meals in the local assortment of restaurants, Miss Parr took it upon herself to create an establishment that would serve local and organically sourced foods and called it Aspen Fresh and Wild. All different walks of health minded gourmands enjoyed the food, and Miss Parr was undoubtably proud of her efforts to feed the local masses good tasting, healthy food. Nothing pleased her more than to hear the praise of the local mechanics raving about her Trail Mix salad with Miso dressing and her High-wire Ranch buffalo prime rib w/mashed fingerling potatoes and carmelized onion gravy, but praise alone couldn't keep her going. She was fastly becoming a burnt out, yet still idealistic young chef. After three seasons she begrudgingly folded her little restaurant, but not before she had made many good friends out of the local growers in Paonia and her customer base in the Roaring Fork. The farmers were her friends and she sought desperately for a way she could still do business with them. The customers were also her friends and they missed the pure tasted of unadulterated food in their diets. They called her often and asked things like "When are you going to reopen." Even when she would say things like "Oh my God, it almost killed me, so never." or "My hair is starting to grow back and my back just stopped hurting," they still called. One magic day, an old customer called and said ,"Miss Parr, just get me some of that good Paonia produce and I will cook it myself." Ah Ha! The light bulb went on again in Miss Parr's battered brains and so the new conception of Aspen Fresh and Wild came about. All the farmers were delighted with the idea and as Miss Parr still had one or two brain cells left, her many years of cooking naturally with seasonal foods could still come to good use in the form of recipes. And there you have it, folks! This year with the name shortened to just Fresh & Wyld and a fantastic new web site to make ordering easier, we hope you never again have a shortage of healthy, locally grown food in your larders.

Austin Family Farms The Austin Farm in Paonia is one of my favorite stops. The family run business, headed up by Glenn and Tony Austin, their daughter and son-in-law Tina and Don and their children is a 3 generation operation. The whole family chips in and boy, are they busy. The Austin¹s have 20 acres of fertile land, 10 of which are planted in orchards. For 36 years the Austin¹s have been producing beautiful food. The farm has been using organic practices for years and this year they are taking it up a notch to convert to bio-dynamic farming, providing even a more nutritional end result. The farm grows raspberries, blackberries, 9 kinds of peaches, 12 kinds of apples, plums, nectarines, apricots, pears and miscellaneous vegetables. The Austin¹s invite you to tour their farm anytime. |

Desert Weyr At Desert Weyr our small family farm produces animal products in a humane and environmentally friendly way. We take advantage of our animal's ability to transform inedible plants and insects into healthy meat and wool without destroying the environment. Our Black Welsh Mountain sheep produce high quality lamb and mutton without the use of grain feeds to finish. Our Pilgrim geese are also pasture raised with some grain for optimum health. Our meat products are very lean and yet remain tender and tasty. We do not feed antibiotics or growth hormones to any of our livestock. We do provide humane care including vaccinations and deworming as needed. |

Rain Crow Farm Kerry Noonan and Jason Beason Our farm is named after the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, also known as the Rain Crow. The Rain Crow brings good luck and often sings just before a rain storm. Last summer we saw a Rain Crow along the river that borders our farm. This will be our first year farming on our land. Last year we had a big garden and everything we grew was delicious and bountiful. This summer we hope to expand what we grow to sell at a farmer¹s market and to the chefs in the area. Kerry has worked on farms in Montana, California, and Connecticut and is eager to have her own business. She will be out in the field with her one year old son, Otus, and her husband, Jason. We will be growing a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. |
